Music icon Iron Maiden, which performed in the Czech Republic last week, and the Pilsen brewery Elektrárna have teamed up to brew a new Trooper Saturn lager for Czech fans. It follows on from the original English beer Trooper, which began to be produced 12 years ago in cooperation with the British company Robinsons. Since then, Iron Maiden’s Trooper range has grown around the world by partnering with carefully selected and award-winning breweries that share the same emphasis on quality, innovation and creativity.

As with all other Trooper beers, Bruce Dickinson, singer and frontman of the band Iron Maiden, played a major role in the choice of style, recipe and flavor profile. “I am delighted to have been able to work with the Elektrárna brewery, which is part of a Czech brewing company recognized all over the world. As could be expected given the huge brewing tradition in the Czech Republic, the involvement of the great local team and the use of Saturn hops adds another dimension to this beer, which makes it a truly special and unique achievement in the Trooper line. It’s an absolutely exceptional beer and I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do,” says Bruce Dickinson.

Trooper Saturn is an aromatic Czech lager, which uses unique Czech Saturn hops, which are grown only in the area around Žatec. Saturn is a hybrid of wild hops and their modern successors and is highly valued for its unique taste, delicate hops, fruity and slightly floral aromas. Trooper Saturn is therefore packed with taste and aroma with a relatively low alcohol content (4.5% vol.) and medium bitterness (36 IBU), making it a beer suitable for a pleasant get-together with friends.

We are extremely excited to become part of the Iron Maiden Trooper family.  Developing beer with Bruce and the whole team was an extraordinary experience. We are very proud of the result. Trooper Saturn lager is characterized by the best properties of Czech lagers, such as good drinkability, excellent taste and aroma, which is provided by Saturn hops. We are already seeing a lot of interest, thousands of Trooper Saturn beers have already been sold in the first few days of sales. We are looking forward to our journey together,” adds Michal Škoda, director of the Elektrárna brewery.

On the labels of the cans and packaging of Trooper Saturn beer with typically impressive pictures, a version of Eddie from the album Somewhere In Time appears. Bruce Dickinson also participated in this design, and the result corresponds perfectly with the term Saturn: it is not only the name of the hops used, but also the visual connection with a warrior from the depths of space – the planet Saturn, characterized by its clearly visible ring.

Trooper Saturn in 500ml cans is sold by the online store Rohlík.cz. It will also be available on tap, in selected bars, restaurants and metal or rock music festivals throughout the Czech Republic.
